Bathukamma is the most iconic festival celebrated in Kamareddy and throughout Telangana. Dedicated to Goddess Gauri, the festival symbolizes life, prosperity, and the beauty of nature. Women create beautifully arranged flower stacks using seasonal flowers such as gunuka, tangedu, chamanti, and marigold. Dressed in colorful traditional sarees, they gather in temples and public grounds to sing folk songs, dance in circles around the Bathukamma, and offer prayers for the well-being of their families. The celebrations conclude with the immersion of Bathukamma in nearby lakes, ponds, and rivers. The festival showcases Telangana’s rich cultural traditions and strengthens community bonds through music, dance, and devotion.
